Brush Removal With the Drum Mulcher

The plot was covered edge to edge in brush, the kind of growth that makes a piece of land look smaller than it is. You couldn’t see through it and you couldn’t get anything across it.

We put the drum mulcher to it. The head grinds standing brush and small timber where it stands and drops it as mulch, so the clearing and the cleanup happen in the same pass. Nothing was hauled off and nothing was burned.

The plot is open now, flat enough to work and covered in a mulch layer that will break down over the next couple of seasons. Whether the owner wants pasture, room for equipment, or to see across their own property, the ground is ready for it.

The part that pays off later is the root. Grinding takes the brush out at the base rather than cutting it off, so next year’s growth is seedlings instead of a thicker stand coming back off the stumps.
